Surgery history

Doctors have been working out of the Osborne Road Surgery since the foundation of the NHS, and out of Eastney Health centre since it was built in the 1980s. Over recent years we have evolved with the merger of the Osborne Practice with Ramillies then Eastney Practices – with the formation in 2016 of the Trafalgar Medical Group Practice, a sustainable modern GP Practice

Trafalgar Medical Group Practice (TMGP) currently serves about 28000 people in Southsea – from Gunwharf to Eastney. Our experienced team of Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists and Administrators work hard to provide a full range of GP medical services, for both NHS and private patients.

We are active contributors to important local health organisations including the South Coast Primary Care network, The Portsmouth Primary Care Alliance (who run the out of hours service), the Hampshire wide Integrated Care Board and now the new Portsmouth Medical School

As well as regular patient care, we are involved with training the next generation of GPs and Nurses, teaching medical students from Portsmouth, Imperial and Southampton Medical Schools, partake in research projects, support local Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation centres, and provide lots of other services – such as minor operations, coil and pessary fitting, joint injections and specialist medicals (Fostering, DVLA, ENG and others).

We aim to be a dynamic organisation providing high quality care for all our patients where possible; trying new ways of working (if they may be advantageous), learning from mistakes, and constantly adapting to the environment, both NHS and societal, in which we live and work.
